Wolf - Auch kleine Dinge (Transcription for String Orchestra by Dr. Elizabeth Adekale)

I took a 19th century art song and transcribed it for string orchestra. The original piece was written for solo voice with piano accompaniment. Since the piano and strings are two completely different instruments, scoring for strings requires that you translate the piano effects in a way that is doable for the string instruments.

The meaning of the original poem/text is reflected in the music. It is about appreciating the little things in life. The short 16th rhythmic patterns carry this theme of "small things."

As for the harmonic analysis (analyzing the chord progressions), you will hear unexpected harmonies throughout; simple chromatic movements that keep the listener engaged. Following the intro, the music jumps to the middle of the piece so you can listen to the strings play the section that has even more interesting and complex harmonies.
