UN security council adopts resolution calling for boosted aid to Gaza

The UN security council has passed a resolution in favour of increased aid for people in the Gaza Strip, after a week of delays and fraught negotiations.

A Russian amendment calling for a suspension of hostilities was vetoed by the US before a second resolution was adopted by the council with 13 votes in favour, no votes against and two abstentions. Russia and the US abstained and the motion passed.

They took a whole week wrangling with words on a piece of paper to come up with this? Furthermore, the USA were stating that they were close to a resolution that they could back and in the end they abstained? The USA has become a joke and not a particularly funny one. At least the UK voted in favour this time or perhaps they got permission from America to do so. As the UN Security Council debates and wring their hands over text on a resolution, the civilians of Gaza are facing famine, disease, no medicine and very little water. As for the fools who claim this to be some kind of support for Hamas, they are a disgrace. It is not a demonstration of support for Hamas and even though they will likely embezzle and commandeer a portion of the aid, the vast majority will still get to those who need it. It is not the intention of the international community to support Hamas and until Israel allows the UN to take control of the distribution of aid on the ground and ensure that all of the aid reaches those that desperately need it, then this will be the consequence. These fools in the comments section don't think of that. Thankfully however, there were no vetoes this time and the resolution passed. Albeit too little, too late in the day.
