Absolutely amazing camera in every way…and that 40mm Rokkor lens is unparalleled!

Very nice and technical body, difficult to find and so very expensive. It s old now and as it was build at the beginning of the electronic era for photography it may become out of order and can t be repaired easily. The 3 optics are good but usually also over priced and sometimes subject to white points. I deeply prefer an m4 or m4p which will still work in 10 or 20 years due to its simplicity and with voigtlander lenses which represent for me the best value/price ratio. Anyway… I would be happy to have it in my collection :).

A lovely little camera but l never understood why Minolta didn't incorporate manual metering in it.
I read somewhere decades ago that Minolta put the same metering electronics from their XG series of SLR cameras into the CLE, hence the lack of a manual metering mode.

My current obsession. I hope I'll own one in the not so distant future.

Only Leica could make the M, but only Minolta could make it for everyone else.

This is the best user camera that Leitz ever had access to. Oscar Barnack would have been astounded by what his design evolved to had he been alive when this Camera was released (albeit by Minolta...) I'd be willing to bet that Leica wouldn't be a rich men's jewellery company if they had make this design even greater. Such a shame

Anyone knows anybody who can still service these? Mine needs a CLA.

It really boggles the mind that none of the Japanese manufacturers can be bothered to make a camera like this today, when there are so many film shooters invested in the M mount system. Hell, they could even get a 3rd party to design and make it for them. I hope the Pentax film camera sparks a trend. And while I'm shouting at clouds, shame on Nikon for not making a "full frame" F2/F3/FM or rangefinder already. Of course, they're all only interested in pushing new lenses and incremental updates and "simulations"...
