DIY HOW TO REMOVE VRO from Fuel Pump Premixing gas Outboard motor Johnon Yamaha Evinrude Mercury Honda I was having some issues with my motor stopping. I went through a bunch of issues, line, air, fuel, filters, spark plugs, I finally thought I should test the VRO motor the pump the fuel up. The motor was shot and not running. It never sounded the warning sound. Lucky I didn't burn out the motor. Easy switch to premix.
I recently fixed the Fuel pump for this

If you are having fuel issues with your outboard this may be your problem. My motor was cutting off and on and I had to continuously prime the ball it would run then start to stall a few pump it would run 20 seconds than pump 20 seconds start to stall over and over. I thought it was the pressure to the tank, I checked the hose and bulb pump, went through the plugs, sprayed with carb cleaner, and any other easy repair I thought it could be. I then figured it could possibly be the fuel pump diaphragm. It was and it was way easier to fix that I thought. It only took a matter of hours to get the job completed with my novice outboard ability.

If you are uncomfortable with this type of work please bring it to someone. You alone are responsible for any damage you cause to your motor.

I believe the VRO was introduced in 1984 and appears on some motors still today. 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020. This outboard I believe is a 1985 or 1986 and was similar to the 88 special outboard motor that was offered

so just disconnect the oil line and plug, and use the current pump setup that is already installed.?

Thinking about doing this on my 175 - The oil tank is messy & plus bilge from oil leak previous owner- My question is how much do you mine premixing & any other negatives from ghe VRO system? Any regrets? Is much more difference in amount oil? I usually just get the boat up & back off to 2/3 throttle- Aint no 4 stroke but not so bad on fuel- Thanks for video

I've spent days trying to figure out where that VRP plug connects. My motor has NOTHING for it.... #HELP

I removed the vro tank only by clipping the one wire to it and removing. I did none of the other disconnecting you showed. Is it all necessary if I just run 50 to 1 remixed fuel? Which wire activates the low oil alarm? I can't get it to stop wailing. Seems to originate at the console. Any suggestions?

Now that you have disconnected the vro, is it better to put in a fuel pump?
I’m only wondering because I am planning on disconnecting my vro and mixing my gas. Just wondering if I would have to change to standard fuel pump

I have a 1985 evinrude 90hp. It has a VRO but the oil pump isn't working. The oil line is dry but the gas pump works fine. Is this worth fixing? Or should I just mix my gas? I haven't opened up the pump yet
