His level 1 would be level 100 of most other players. For me, when it comes to the concept of an *athlete* (talent and technique combined with focus, dedication, hard work and self-knowledge), Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest of them all.

Cristiano’s case is unique.

He’s simultaneously one of if not the Greatest of all time as well as the most underrated player I’ve ever come across. I’ve yet to see a player better than him at consistently crossing a ball (with both feet mind you) while running at full speed after beating a man. His shooting is ridiculous (also with both feet) and the techniques he uses like knuckleball (and its variations) as well as top spin and whip are unparalleled. His power, range and the angles he scores from- a combination of all three isn’t shared by any other player. His dribbling at full speed, not even considering for someone his size, is bananas. His first spell at United and his first few years at Madrid- he was unplayable. His playmaking and quality of chance creation is heavily heavily underrated. If someone, regardless of who they think the GOAT is, were to watch the entirety of his career, they will be disgusted and overwhelmed by how good this guy actually is.

Think about this. He is so good at doing something (scoring goals-which btw is the only way to win the match in that sport) that people have started to downplay it. Think about how crazy that is. It’s straight up insanity. It’s like saying “Bolt can only run” or “all Gordon Ramsay can do is cook”. And that’s not even mentioning how across the entirety of his career he consistently showed up in defensive clearances and work rate off the ball. His last 2 years at Madrid was when Zidane freed him from defensive duties but he still showed up whether it’s for being a part of freekick walls or marking a man in set pieces.

Now you would think with all this nonsense going around about this guy in the media that he would be terrible at defending. Wrong again! Even his slide tackling is great. Sure he doesn’t do it as often as a Kante for example, but he’s still got it in his locker.

All that and the elephant (or elephants should I say) in the room are yet to be brought up. The guy is lightning quick. He is FAST. Worse yet, he’s easily the greatest aerial player of all time 😂

I absolutely hated him. I haven’t hated a person, irl or online more than I once hated this guy. Imagine smiling after the opponent fouls you for doing tricks! How egoistic! But then I remembered Dinho, who I idolized growing up, that used to do the same. The same penalties and long range freekicks I loved Super Frank for, I found in this guy. I saw this guy play through injury, score with a cut bleeding right above his eye.

The guy is just too good. If he is in your Top 5 we are in agreement. If he’s not, I implore you to watch his career in its entirety if you can. Don’t look at him from the lenses of a City or a Liverpool fan. Don’t look at him from the eyes of a Barcelona or a ATM fan. Don’t look at him from the eyes of a fanbase of any of his clubs’ rivals. You’ll love him

If he was half as good looking, people would love him twice as much.
