My finished review of the pathfinder Gen3 bottle bag that failed. It ripped alone the seam under minor use. It came with the water bottle cook set. I informed SRO and they sent me a replacement with no questions asked. Great company, horrible product.

Gotta call it as you see it. If it's junk, it's junk. A lot of their items are way overpriced and if your willing to pay for a name, good on you. I appreciate honest reviews. I've had the maxpedition holder for years and it's still in great shape.

I have a 101 INC branded bottle bag cost me $28. The other bottle bag I have is the Pathfinder gen 3 cost $33. The cheaper bag has fabric on the inside and is a more durable bag. The Phatfinder bag smelled bad of chemicals. When you hold it up to a lamp, you see the light between the stitches in the seams, which are sparse. The bag is flimsy and of poor quality. You get what you pay for, but why is the cheaper bag of better quality? The Pathfinder Bag is Chinese crap.

Yep, that looks bad. I have just bought the Pathfinder Waxed Haversack, and yes I know its made in China. First thing I will do is replace the shoulder strap. As for the bottle holder. I looked at the price, and I will get one from Condor Tactical. I've had for years now, and I want a third one. As other have said, I think Canterbury has gone a tad too far. Needs to talk to the factory making his stuff and remind them, its supposed to be good quality. I just hope the Haversack I get is doable.

I bought their bushpot, and noticed it leaked water from a pinsize hole in the bottom of it, reached out to the company but i still have not got an answer from them, this was about 3 years ago... since then i just bought from other brands, that at least reply if something breaks! Thanks for sharing, as i was about to give them a second try with the bottlepouch and got reminded!

Great video! Wondering if you can help me determine the dimensions. All of the sites that list product show the length at 18” and the width as 5 1/2”. Does that width include the attached pocket? Can you please measure the internal width of the bottle section, and the overall height of the item? Also, how deep is the attached pocket? Thanks so much!

I don’t buy Rothco or SRO products ever.

Yeah... the clip on mine doesn't work. It came that way... the best canteen cover I have found is the FireForce Tactical Canteen Cover.

I've had mine for 3 years now and use it pretty regular. I agree with some others that you may have just got a bad batch.

Thanks for the honest review. I. Like you I'd expect more out of them.

My opinion is that you should have sent the bad one in for an evaluation.

Nice review. I looked at the construction and passed on it myself. Might work for light duty use, but I don't have time to baby equipment.

Made in china on the tag. I’ve got the same bottle bag after looking it over. Looks to be inferior low quality materials used in these bags.I have the square type used with stainless canteen kit. Another low quality inferior bag ripped out on the side as well. Not worth the money to use these bags better options with military surplus. Spec-ops brand have bulletproof bags designed for combat use. Maxpedition legacy bags were good but, didn’t come with molle attachments. Both are far better than pathfinder bags. Both cost more quality simply costs more. Military surplus gives the best service life usually. Most has been in rough service for years and still holds up for years. Lately British military surplus has some excellent field gear available.

Wow! I've had mine for over two years and really beat it up. It's part of my EDC and does double duty playin in the woods. Scuffed scratched and discolored even burned on one side. 😂 But solid as ever. I think it was a production run error. These things do run in batches. I hope your issue was resolved.

Thanks for the vid AR bushcrafter. Sorry to see ya had that experience.

I’ve been studying Dave Canterbury 10 C’s and he sounds like a great instructor. All his free tutorials vids on YouTube are a wealth of knowledge. I’ve learned a lot from him and I haven’t paid him a dime! So yea I’m a “fan boy” 😆 But Having said that, I’ve only purchased one pathfinder product…. The (25oz cup) because I like the holes for the bottle hanger.🤷🏼‍♂️

Now, I’ve always been suspicious of pathfinder products…hell he made a video supporting his decisions to have his stuff made in China 🇨🇳. I totally get it…he’s running a business, he needs to pay bills too…but I think he designs products and has them made overseas because it helps to make them affordable for the common man. The common man who doesn’t want to drop top dollar for top quality gear….the ones that don’t want to “buy once, cry once”. Having them cheaply made doesn’t hurt his profit margins and keeps his fans/minions happy.

I mean he puts a big ass pathfinder logo on all his products….that seems excessive IMO….it screams merchandising! merchandising! like Yoghurt from Space Balls. Pathfinder the T-shirt, pathfinder the coloring book, pathfinder the lunch box, pathfinder the breakfast cereal, pathfinder the flame thrower!!!

In all seriousness. Moral of the story here is a thing that can be bought for a very low price …probably isn't very good.

Ok end of my rant 🤣

Geez! Hopefully it was just a fluke item that got through quality control. Gotta give them kudos for shipping you out a new one without questions ask. For the price their stuff should be rock hard bomb proof gear.
Guess that’s why I always figure unless it is a small business handmade product, might just as well buy a budget priced knock off. That way when it falls apart you haven’t had to break your bank.

Looking at the close up image at the start, you're lucky it lasted as long as it did. That looks like some rothco or fox trash I used to see at bad army surplus stores. Many probably know the kind of store I'm talking about. The ones that have little to no real army items but a ton of China knockoffs. At least with those companies you're not paying much and you know what to expect.

All due respect here, but it's a $30 product. That's not exactly a high end price range. Now I'm not saying it should rip or fall apart; absolutely not! Get a replacement or your money back, for sure! But all these comments about "overpriced garbage" and no. Most of the Pathfinder gear I've got holds it's weight in terms of the price I paid for it. Sorry you had a bad experience with this one hope the replacement fairs better.
