Bear Grylls knives are fun to play with. I use the basic knife as a beater knife when landscaping and for cutting tasks only. The Ulitimate Pro is actually a HUGE step up and a very good knife despite the naysayers.

Pro tip: never strike your ferro rod with the blade facing down, you're better off using the spine if the blade and instead of dragging the knife down, keep pressure and pull your ferro rod up and back, that way you're not pushing against your fire.
