Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Literature at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and had lots of American friends, hence the weird accent. I'm definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!

Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 3.5 years now.

Where do you work?
I'm a Social Media Producer at Penguin Random House UK.

How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel for 7 years. (P.s. You don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).

Can you review my book?
I can't guarantee that I will, but if you'd like to get in touch, please take a look at my review policy on the 'About' page of my channel.

What do you use to film?
I have a Canon 60D with a Tokina 11-16 lens (which is super useful if you want to sit close to your camera and still get a wide shot) and I use a window as my natural lighting. I edit my videos in Final Cut X.

Brilliant, I live near Cork and also went to uni there so the fact that you listened to an audiobook with this accent made me chuckle so much xx

So glad you did this video, because your "currently-reading" shelf on Goodreads is slightly confusing, to put it mildly :D

I am currently reading Love by Toni Morrison and, like Rosianna, I am actually reading (or rereading) all her books in publication order and I can confirm it genuinely is so interesting to read an author's canon this way because you can see the way they explore, discard, deepen, and revisit themes along the way. I'm hoping to finish it today and get on to reading A Mercy tomorrow.

I am also really trying to get around to reading the Bailey's shortlist as I have watched all the videos now from you and Jen and I'm super interested in Ruby and The Improbability of Love (The Green Road and The Glorious Heresies I am on the fence about, being Irish and having read A LOT of Irish literature in the past I am trying to diversify my habits).

I also have a copy of Purple Hibiscus by Adichie that I will hopefully get around to before school starts again.

Loved the video ladies!

I'm planning on writing my dissertation about feminism and post-colonial themes in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's works and Half of a Yellow Sun is so interesting in this perspective. In general, I just really like her writing style and her view on the world, she is such a brilliant and inspiring woman!

I recently finished Bedknobs & Broomsticks by Mary Norton (which the Disney movie is based off, but oh my goodness the movie is very different from the book!) and have started reading John Leeson's autobiography.

I found it interesting that the two books that make up Bedknobs & Broomsticks were first published in 1945 and 1947, and very clearly are set during the war time with the children being sent to the country. As I read I noticed there was no mention of the war, and there was also no mention of the children's father. This led me to looking into some other books written or set around that time. I noticed the Fantastic Five books by Enid Blyton were also from the time, and I don't recall them mentioning the war and it also has the story of children going out of the city over the summer. But then there are the books written later but still set in that time period, such as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series and how they approach the issue of the war very differently. I'm thinking of rereading some of the Narnia series now because the series started in 1949 and I'm curious to see when the shift in attitude happened.

I got John Leeson's autobiography several months ago when I met him at a convention, and am interested in it because he was the voice of K9 in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures. So far I am two chapters in and it is fascinating! I'm not sure if it'd be as interesting to someone who isn't a fan of the show, but I like it. :D

I hope you both have a wonderful day!

I finally finished Glorious Heresies after being unable to get my hands on it when the Baileys prize was announced. As ever with this type of book, I found myself rushing through some chapters to get to the characters/storylines that I enjoyed the most (in this case, it was Ryan and his dad). I reallly enjoyed it, it had a lot of Trainspotting vibes. Also, the level of detail in the descriptions is insane.

Hi Sanne! I just started booktubing and I just wanted to tell you that you are a massive inspiration to me. I think your videos are so sweet and intelligent and I love your attitude! (I may have just made a book depository order with some of your recommendations). Thanks for such excellent content and I'm especially looking forward to your next "Pretty Spines" video :)
