From a 32 year old dad who always struggled to fit in, and is now helping to transition his son to a new school: thank you. You’ve helped to refine my talking points with my little man.

To the other kids commenting that they’re scared of a new school: I was too! I had to switch multiple times throughout grade school, middle school, and high school. But each time, I grew a bit more. Developed more courage, and made great friends along the way. The best advice I can give is this: be kind, and you’ll attract kind people. Good luck everyone!

At first, being the new kid was very daunting. I was very nervous, but recently I moved for the 3rd time and I had to create a new life for myself again, but the anxieties of being a new kid wore off because I knew what to do.

Using the, ”hey I’m new here” is an amazing strategy and simply asking for directions or asking what’s fun to do in the area works out great. Also ask where do most of the kids your age hang out on the weekends, knowing this will, after you made the friends you asked, will expose you to even more people.

But I do think that the “I’m the new kid at school” card wears off and it will start getting weird at times, but it depends on the amount of students that are at your school. But I think going around your city and approaching people or girls you find attractive and asking “what are some cool places to hangout or do” will last a little bit longer.

This video was amazing my man!

a few weeks ago i had to start at a new school as the new kid and it was pretty scary( in my case i already had someone i knew previously but we weren't in the same class so it was hard to spend time with her all the time) but something that i feel like that is really important is :

*your appearance and hygiene, if you look clean and well organized people are more likely to spend time with you and talk to you.

*something that i also though was helpful was to ask questions and try and make conversations(don't try too hard though) because over time you will be able to get more confident and comfortable with people and will be able to make conversations much easier

*give people complements, people really like being given compliments because it makes then feel good and they will more likely want to spend more time with you/talk to you

*smile! look happy, if you look happy then people are more likely to spend time with you rather than looking upset all the time

*talk to people as if everyone already likes you, this way people be more happy with you being there and if they think that you like being around them rather than not talking to anyone(but don't overdo it or try too hard)

moving schools and being the new kid will always be hard at first but i promise it gets better over time, good luck!

I’m in year 7 and I’m transferring to a private school in a couple weeks. I was super nervous at first, but after my mother talked to me, I felt way better. This made me feel 100% positive! 💗
