Excellent review Graham; will get a few Lumix platforms, probably the FZ1000 II and
zs80 for travel. Will do the tutorials in the future, thanks for all your expertise and hard work!

In camera USB charging is the only way I go with my cameras. I have a dual USB battery pack that fits nicely in my camera bag and some 90° USB cables that allow me to keep the batteries topped off in the camera during the day. I’ve basically negated the need for spare batteries for me as they never get used. The Bluetooth feature to do GPS tethering is pretty important to me which is why I opted for the m2, mine arrives today, I’m kind of out snooping for videos now in the interim. Thanks for posting. Great review.

Very good and clear comparison. Thank you. I have used my FZ1000 for a very long time, and was a little disappointed with the newest version, but you clarified the differences. Thanks!

Thank for another nice review. It appears Panasonic has not implemented the new color science that they use on modern four thirds systems. To me, that would be a nice addition.

As of today the FZ1000 MK2 is $ 1, 200.00 Canadian. Last Christmas i purchased the FZ1000 on sale for $600.00 Canadian, brand new, not refurbed, from a reputable dealer (the camera store, Calgary, Alberta, you may have heard of them, lol). Long story short as a stills only shooter, if the price hits $600.00 again i'm buying at least 1 if not 2 more of the mark 1's. the Mark 2 doesn't add anything worth the 2x price as a strictly stills shooter, and I do love the results from the Mk1, great great camera.

Hi Graham. I've seen a lot of your videos on the Fz1000 and they're great. Now that they've released the mark II I'm wondering if I should purchase it because I really love my fz1000 but I wish it had the features of the new one.
Great job on the comparison of them both. Have a great day and keep on cranking out those videos!

Elsewhere I saw that the Mark II was supposed to have improved low light sensitivity, I hope you can look into this at some point.

I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm a very occasional "point and shoot" photographer with the older version of this camera, and I even sent you a message asking how to tell the difference between the old and new. I should have checked your channel first, as this video gives me ample information to determine that I for sure have the first generation. I and will order the PDF from your site and look forward to learining about this camera.

Great video as always. Do you do a comparison with FZ1000 ii Vs FZ2000? I notice the FZ2000 has slightly bigger zoom and the FZ1000 ii is newer so dearer. Other than that is there much difference? Does that extra zoom make all the difference! Thanks

Thank you for comparing these two. Very informative and well put together.

I like the original, but don't use it as much as I would, due to the fact that it breaks video files down into small pieces, plus the thirty min video limit. Has the upgrade changed either of those things?

Love the video thumbnail with its nod to the 1980s film Short Circuit! That was my first thought anyway. :-D

I was considering the FZ1000ii but when you shot tree leaves or foliage it looks like a mess.
You can get an APSC sensor for the same price these days. (M50 + 75x300 lens)

I've never even heard that they launched the FZ1000 II and now I'm frantically Googling what's the difference between this and the FZ2000 as well. Thanks and subbed!

I have really enjoyed my FZ1000, and find it great in many areas. My biggest complaint is the fact that it can only record 30 min of video at a time and then the recording stops. From your silence on this subject I am guessing that this is still true with the new version?

Great review as always. My wife used to like the FZ1000 before moving over to the GH5. Look forward to you further videos tests on this camera.

One failing that they carried forward to the mk2 is the tripod mound is still offset, thus gets in the way of the battery door, if the camera is mounted. This was one of the most complained about issues with the mk1 ... You have to get the FZ2000 to solve this.

Thanks for the video Graham, from a FZ1000 MKI user. However, I wonder about the pricing, the FZ1000 II costs the same or more than a FZ2000/2500. On a FZ2000 you get slightly larger zoom and ND filters built into the lens. There I found the chain jumping off the gear for Panasonic.

Someone has a comment on the weird pricing ?

I’m looking to upgrade from the fz300 . Thinking about G85. But still enjoy the versatility of having a full zoom len in the fz1000mark 2. Thank you for all the great commentary you have
