It took me till around 35 before I learned how to ask for what I wanted. It is an important lesson to learn. If you are decent and reasonable and articulate what you want with a well presented context you are usually met with a welcoming and accommodating reply. You need to craft and present your request in a pleasant, appreciative manner with a sense of acknowledgment conveyed to recipient that you are seeking their accommodation. If you do it right, people often tend to want to accommodate. Everyone wins in this scenario. I have to teach my son this. I kind of learned it in my own through repeated failure.
