I’ve been loving this song for over 50 years. Play it late at night when everything is still if you can. It deserves that kind of setting. I used to sing it to my late wife. Miss you Rhonda Lynn.😢

"Magnolia" was my first wife's absolute-favorite song; she'd play it at home, after a hard day on the flight line - we were both U.S. Air Force, she was the crew chief on an F-4 Phantom, I was radar...She was killed in a single-car accident in the Philippines (my fault - I was driving) one day short of our 15-month anniversary. I had the song played at her funeral (in the US) and wept like a baby.

Forty years, 7 months and 3 days later, I can't listen to this song without struggling to keep from blubbering.
Requiescat in pace, Mr. JJ Cale, and thank you for the comfort your music brought to Linda - and for the times we danced to your songs.

I am sitting here with my grandmother listening to this song. She remembers it when it came out, and she did not know what song it was. She heard it on the radio in the early 70’s, and know 50 years later she heard it again. She told me she never knew who it was, but that she’s always loved that song.

JJ CALE! Should be in the music’s hall of fame! There were a lot of musicians who tried to emulate him! But there’s only one JJ CALE! Has anybody out there have his CD Guitar Man! It was released around 1995-96! This album I think is JJ Cale at his peak!

Sigh. Oldie but one of THE best. It's hard to believe but in another decade (give or take) this lp will be half a century old. Wow. I love it just as much now as I did waaay back in the day when I first heard it. So sweet and poignant; has that Rainy Night In Georgia feeling going on, no?

I was a northerner who lived in Texas for six yrs, then in Nashville for 13 yrs. Yeah, puts me in a mindset of smelling that Jasmine, down by the river.
