Trump tells Xi he respects 'One-China' policy

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China appreciates U.S. President Donald Trump's upholding of the One China policy. Xi Jinping made the remarks in a phone conversation with Trump on Thursday. During the call, Xi said he believed the U.S. and China are cooperative partners, and that through joint efforts, bilateral relations can reach new highs. In his first conversation with the Chinese leader since his inauguration, Trump said he would respect the long-standing One-China policy. The two leaders discussed numerous topics, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, investment and international affairs. They also agreed to maintain close contact, and to exchange views in a timely manner on issues of common concern. Both leaders extended invitations to meet in their respective countries.
