Introduction to the day & perspectives from a care partner

In this first session of the day, Stephanie Fauquier, a member of TDRA's lived experience advisory partners (LEAP) council, launched the event, which included introducing TDRA, reviewing the agenda for the day, and presenting logistical details for the attendees.

Stephanie then shared her story of her mother, esteemed colorectal surgeon Dr. Robin McLeod. Her story included helping Dr. McLeod navigate life with dementia. In the summer of 2023, Stephanie launched Race with Steph, in which she completed one triathlon in each Canadian province, with the goal of raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease. By the end of the summer, Steph had completed over 500 kms of racing and raised over $850,000 for dementia research.
