Salary history inquiries are discriminatory and answering them makes it difficult for you to jump to a higher income bracket. Did you know that several states and cities including New York City and California have already outlawed salary history inquiries?

Wage Gap Stats:
For every dollar a man makes:
White women make about 77 cents.
Black women make about 66 cents.
Latinas make about 54 cents.

They should not be asking that in the first place in the state of California. If they ask, I will not continue with the interview at all. They should not try to manipulate people.

"dont answer it " - easy to say but we would prefer to know how to answer it w/o giving the number and making the conversation super awkward

Is it ok to say: "I would like to keep that information between me and my current employer." Or "My employer doesn't want me to give that information to third party." ?

A Law has been passed. That employers are Banned from Asking candidates this question. I always answer with this here that's confidential information.

there are always background checks happens in some industries, new employer may certainly comes to know about your current salary
