Warren Farrell offers an in-depth analysis of the Gender Pay Gap, which results not from discrimination but from personal choices involving trade-offs between income, occupation, flexibility, and fulfillment. These decisions include choosing (or avoiding) hazardous occupations, unfulfilling occupations, willingness to relocate or be on-call, etc. He also examines employment discrimination against men, as well as situations that appear at first glance to be discrimination against women but turn out to actually be discrimination against men in disguise.

Dr. Warren Thomas Farrell is an American educator, activist and author of seven books on men's and women's issues. He is often considered "the father of the men's movement," but he started out as a vocal feminist and was a board member of the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) in the early 1970s.

One the basic reasons men work longer hours and earn more money is that men in the US get custody of children only 15% of the time so they pay the bulk of child support and pay 97% of the alimony. So by necessity they have to work much longer hours just have a standard of living that is not that much less than they had before they got divorced. I personally have known more guys than I could count who had to work grueling long hours after they got financially raped in family court so they are not living in a fleabag hotel after the ex-wife gets them kicked out of the house.

Very interesting presentation. Other than his books, can someone point me to his publications in the refereed literature? Yes, I know, it has been recently shown that "grievance studies” journals don’t permit the publication of such viewpoints, regardless of the evidence. Nevertheless, like it or not, failure to publish research in a refereed journal of some sort generally means these ideas haven’t been through the “academic wringer”. (I’m not saying this research hasn’t. I genuinely want to know.)

The question "Why you choose a man if you can have the same product/service at a lower price"? (if you believe in the gender pay gap myth..) has in my opinion no rivals. Simply because is based on logic, and is a nonsense to believe that an entrepreneur is so stupid to pay someone (a man) more when can have someone else at a lower price.... I really don't understand why people can't see this elementary argument. It's feminism against capitalism...

The other thing I find quite amusing is that the implication of women earning 77c on the dollar that men earn is that there is some conspiracy by men to oppress women by paying them less. The problem arises when you consider that this 77c thing has, verbatim, been going on for like 40 years. Forget trying to figure out the way men work and women work and blah blah, how have men been able to maintain such a consistent number for so long? With all the world forces that come together that determine pay and income and job availability etc, how can one sustain that type of "patriarchal inequality" for over 40 years? That alone should tell you it is BS.
