In this video we are recapping the incredible wind storm from last week. After that, more severe weather is on the way as the SPC has issued a slight risk outlook for tomorrow. Also, the heat is on as we track record temps across the US and a developing drought. But even with all of this, it just feels too quiet out there. The overall pattern is calm for now but we will be looking well into the future at what could be our next big storm…

I'm watching the gulf temps and it's too hot for this time of year. Rockport Tx (Infamous for being near flattened with Harvey) is at 91.2, which is scary hot. Everything out there is above 80 already, nothing is lower than 80, the lowest are Tarpon Bay Fl and Willy Willy Fl at 81 and 82, everything else is 84 and above consistently. The western gulf is 84 and over. This is higher than normal for this time of year so I'll be watching this thing closely. (I'm not a professional meteorologist but I'm fascinated with this stuff and have been watching it since 1991 when I moved to the coast near Galveston.)

We got so lucky here in Northern New Mexico that the monsoon rolled in early. That Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak fire was starting to blow up again, but the rains have been falling pretty regularly for the past few days.

In Dayton Ohio we want from monsoon season into a drought in about a week. I read the Chicago NWS called it a flash drought in the Midwest
