Citizens' debate 2016: Space and me

On 10 September 2016, about 2000 Europeans helped to shape the future of space by taking part in a world first: the Citizens’ Debate on Space for Europe. The future of ESA's space missions were discussed and the different debate sites connected via video conferencing.

Space is where humanity can express its full potential. It is the healing power of pure discovery that will keep us united through all the turmoil of today

I need to add, the benefit of the space programme are well beyond just the weather. It is the development of new technologies that allow us, on the practical side, to boost agriculture, irrigation, disaster prevention, medicine and diagnostics, telecommunication and infrastructure. The network of working relationships between agencies and sub contractors is also quite invaluable. Its human side alone would be worth it, but it also places us firmly on the map as leading edge, and not just second fiddle to other space agencies. Plus, of course, all that the video says (jobs, carry over effects in everyday appliances and tech). All done on a budget that compared to the military is shoe-string. This means having a special allure for minds that are committed to delivering quality work, more than to the contents of a purse.

As in the USA, what drives more money and jobs is more money. Independent companies are not at this time able to send what we really need into space. Only large governments have the Cash. At this time, this is a major problem.

ESA must need more publicity on TV if want more you think the Apple smarthphone can sell us 1 mobile every year and make a lot of profit? They make marketing and sell the same thing with very small changes.
