Fried Cubed steak and Gravy Sunday dinner
DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking?
If you learn to cook like my mama and granny, you will become one of the best Southern cooks. Thank you so much for being a part of this dream of mine.
NOW FOR THIS FAMILY RECIPE:
Fried Tenderized Cubed Steak (Vol. 4 Cookbook Recipe)
CUBED STEAK
1 1/2 CUPS SELF-RISING FLOUR
2 EGGS (ROOM TEMP.)
WEBER STEAK-N-CHOP SEASONING
BLACK PEPPER
SALT 2
REGULAR PIE PLATES (OR SHALLOW DISHES)
Take meat out of package 30 minutes before cooking. Place flour in a shallow pie plate. Place eggs in a shallow pie plate and beat well with a fork. Sprinkle one side of steaks well with steak-n-chop, pepper, & salt. Now place each steak in egg and then flour, pressing flour into steak. Dip and batter both sides and place them back on a large platter. Let sit 5 minutes before frying. Fry steak in 1/2" deep HOT oil in a large skillet. Fry 3 minutes first side on medium/high. Flip them and fry 2 minutes on last side. You may have to turn heat down slightly to prevent burning. Use drippings and make my white gravy recipe to serve over steaks!

I appreciate that you always explain the steps of each dish. Teaching people good habits from the start. My kids watched Blue’s clues as well. I’m just 4 years younger than you Tammy. I can relate which is cool. Huge hi from 🇨🇦

We have cruised for 30 years. Don’t go to the Caribbean in the summer. That’s the rainy season and the water is rougher. Go on a smaller ship and there won’t be crowds. We just returned from a 11 day cruise to Alaska and it was wonderful! We went with Oceania. No children and it was so nice.

Hi Tammy. If u use tin beans put some lemon juice it really makes a difference. My parents went on trips. Mom said it’s important where u r in the ship. My Mother really liked the trips even though she didn’t like boats. So study the best levels where the motion is less likely to give motion. Good luck looking for ur next holiday. B.Mt. Sm. City east of TO, ON Canada❤️🙏🏻

I know everyone likes a cream gravy on cube steak, but I prefer what I call grease gravy😂..just the drippings and flour like a cream gravy but with water. You could enrich with stock but I still prefer the water.I just love your recipes!I use your channel as my inspiration for my big family dinners I make on Sundays.❤

The sound sounds different and it’s lagging behind kinda freezing a little. Love your channel and you know I’m only saying this because I know you care and you asked. Cubed strake is my favorite with potato and gravy.

Thank you. I really enjoy your channel. We took a cruise to Alaska and it was breathtaking. It was smaller than your typical Caribbean cruise, with multiple stops and amazing excursions. We saw whales and orcas and bears and bald eagles. The food was great and never a line. It was Celebrity And we would go again. I highly recommend it. God bless you.

My sound was uneven and cut in and out and the picture was jerky. I watch on YouTube. I stayed with you but hope you don’t do this process again. 😊

Good evening, Tammy and Chris! I just want to start off by saying, Tammy you are looking so very nice in orange. You're looking summer ready! Watching you make dinner, reminded me of summers at my grandmother's. She cooked just like you do. I don't even think she used garlic, haha. Salt and pepper were her mainstays and nothing ever tasted as good as her cooking. Anyway, we took one cruise with the kids when they were in middle school. We elected to go because we thought it would be a good way to see places in one trip (as opposed to three) while keeping it "affordable". On the one hand it was good that everything was onsite, all the time, etc. On the other hand, we would have liked more than a few hours in Jamaica. The kids *loved* the beach. We hired a tour guide for a quick excursion that included some time on a beach, then to lunch (and rum punch, omg!) And it was over. So the cruise is the vacation, the excursions are but a blip. We all decided we'd prefer a destination for four or five days and really take in the sights and sounds (and food)! Yes it was expensive, but we purchased wrist bands that seemed expensive at first. But when it was time to disembark, we were happy to have done it. Y'all make me so nostalgic. God Bless!

It was cool for you to mention LeSueur, Mn. I grew up in Mankato, which is not far from there. There was a huge billboard of the jolly green giant on the hill between St. Peter and LeSueur.

Alaskan cruise. Nature at its finest. Whales, glaciers, salmon galore, crab. Loved it. Mostly adults beautiful scenery.

Love fried cube steak! My mother makes some delicious ‘chicken fried steak’. Liked the look of your potatoes. Never thought of finishing them as you did. As for peas, love them but not canned. Seems mushy to me not to mention the ugly color! Having said that, I can’t recall when I last tried the le seur peas. Perhaps I would like those, but for now give me some lovely green frozen peas!!
I have cruised twice. Both times Carnival. Enjoyed each of them. The ports are nice but the experience is the ship. I am not a drinker so I did not spend extra on that. The shops on board are expensive and other than a small souvenir I wasn’t a big shopper. The casino can be fun but there are two within easy driving distance of my home so that did not hold any attraction for me. We always seemed to get to breakfast at a time there were no long lines. Tons of things to choose from. Dinners in the dining room were delicious and the service was top notch. The entertainment was very good and we tried to get to everything we could. There was a ship photographer going around to the tables and getting group shots. That was something we purchased (our memento). If we were bringing home little gifts we got them in the little port markets. My favorite is probably the Mexican vanilla! So delish. We didn’t do excursions (too expensive and you are locked into that schedule). We preferred to do as we please. Visit a beach, eat somewhere local, shop in a general market, hire a cab and go sight seeing. For myself, I didn’t spend a lot of extra money and I liked the all inclusive price.
If you are able to be spontaneous, don’t need lots of time to plan snd save, you can get fantastic deals. The cruise lines want to fill those rooms before they sail and the deals are great. If you and Chris sailed without the girls (who aren’t retired) you would find savings. And it might be fun to get another couple to sail too. You don’t have to do everything together but its nice to have other friendly faces to have meals with onboard, and to share those deck chairs with!!
Loving thoughts going out to you both!
