In this video me and my wife Carrie are eating at Joe's Shanghai in New York's Chinatown. After eating there once we were so amazed by the food and service that we went back just two days later. We got the Soup Dumplings which is what Joe's Shanghai is known for. We also got Shrimp fried rice, Scallion Pancakes & Wonton Soup. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to go back.
Joe's Shanghai was founded by chef, Joe Si, who specializes in classic Shanghainese cuisine.
In 1994, they opened their first Joe's Shanghai in Flushing Queen's, New York. Right after, there signature Soup Dumplings became very popular among food critics and locals. It's still the favorite for all diners up till this day.
The original name for dumpling is Xiao Long Bao, but because it's complicated to pronounce, patrons decided to simply call it "Soup Dumplings" (based on the soup inside the dumplings). It quickly become an acronym for Joe's Shanghai. Mention "Soup Dumplings", everyone knows you're referring to Joe's Shanghai.
