furries are the most generous community. it's not true that "all furries are suspiciously rich", a lot of furries are queer and either come from poor families or were estranged by their families. a lot of furries are broke. but most furries save money specifically to buy a fursuit or commission a drawing. and since the community is extremely art-oriented, when you get commissioned by a furry, they usually will give you a nice tip.
i'm not the greatest artist but one time a furry lady commissioned 3 big illustrations from me with the total cost of like 80$, but including the tips she ended up paying me around 120$
