Thomas Dorsey wrote 𝑃𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑, 𝑇𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑀𝑦 𝐻𝑎𝑛𝑑 after losing her wife during childbirth. In his desperation, Dorsey prayed, "Oh God, hold my hands and lead me for I am weak, worn, and weary. During the storm and the darkness of night lead me to You and hold my hands."
