For a long time I've seen people say the Unicomp's have crooked keys compared to older IBM's. In this video I find if that's true by comparing it to the grandfather of IBM PC keyboards, the Model F.

Thank you for this video, even on Cherry MX based switches, people spend way too much time looking at the keyboard for flaws than actually using the damn keeb

Well, the Model F are known to have crooked keycaps too. First generation Silver Badge Model Ms are a different story. They are very firm and I quite prefer them over the Model F. Not that it matters in the long run because Unicomp Model Ms are still built like a tank, but the quality difference is certainly there.

It seems like its a design fault in the design of the keys more than a build quality thing.

They weren't made to be pretty. They were made to stand up to 25, 000, 000 presses and be serviceable for a company.
The IBM 122 was $800+.. in the 80s.. just use it ! Unicomp, IBM, they aren't art they are work horses for terminals !

I can’t judge the performance, I don’t have a unicomp. But my mint 1370477 Model M has no wiggle.
