My father built a similar circuit for optical sound on a movie projector because it was getting difficult to obtain photo electric cells. This must have been back in the early 70s. Very much enjoyed today's show.

You are really getting some good use out of the tablet oscilloscope. I just recommended it to my co-worker who is looking for a scope for his teenage son. I work on a lot of pumps and motors at my job and see those sensors all the time. Usually it is a black disc with a notch cut out that the sensor looks for. Just a little bit of dust can make those sensors read erratic. They are very sensitive, as you saw today. Keep up the great videos. I keep learning new things all the time from this channel.

I'd like to see the plot of amperage draw as well. I assume that as Voltage & RPM increase, the amp draw would also increase. I'll give another listen to get the values & check it out.
Nice example of an unusual application for the scope. I actually will be using this once I get a similar optical detector.

Is there more accurate frequency measurement in FNIRSI 1013D? I mean more decimal digits in the result value. A multimeter freq meter might has.

You may want to repeat this test with some load on the motor. Would be a better representation of the actual use.
