TP-Link deco M5 Whole Home Wi-Fi Setup

The TP-Link deco is one of the latest Whole Home Wifi Mesh systems on the market, and to be honest they did a good job for bringing whole home wireless internet in at a reasonable price point. For a 3 pack, it starts at $299 as opposed to the $499 for competing systems, although it doesn't quite measure up to the speed of the higher end systems. TP-Link did a good job here, and they work well so far for me. Enjoy the install!

Set my 6 node network up today. I am on Virgin Media 200 mbps and I am getting an indicated 220 mbps absolutely everywhere in a 12 room double fronted terrace with internal brick walls. It was soooo easy to set up, not a single glitch. Very happy with the Deco, Highly Recommended!

most bang for the buck!
Easily the best mesh you can buy under 400 dollars, and believe me ive tried a few.. I had a bad luck with google wifi, so i tried asus lyra instead.. warning! lyra = worst overpriced crap ever made.. Buggy cheap chinese app from hell, and disconnected and refused connecting some of my devices.. got this deco instead and they work like a charm.. reminds me of google wifi, but i managed to max out my 100/100mbit over this one.. With google i had a struggle reaching over 65-70 on the node 2 rooms from my wall outlet..
Buy the Deco.. my advice!
great app, less speed loss, great stable strong connection

I could never get wifi into my shed with aluminum covering on the interior walls 40ft away with orbi mesh or spectrum's wifi 6 untill I purchased the 3 pack TP link M5. With a 100 mbps internet speed I get (with the door closed and sealed I'm getting 65 mbps and NOW able to stream moves, use the phone and have full bars to the edge of may 2 1/2 car garage and to the end of the property line approx 150 ft away and now I'm not dropping out my cameras in both ft and rear of the house. LOVE THIS

Thanks for the video! I was trying to find out if I could use a wired connection to set up access to the other devices.

I just replaced my Archer C7 and AC1750 range extender with a set of 3 of these M5 and so far they work much better. Getting about 60% faster speeds than before in my garage office. Now we wait and see if the "freezing" still happens. The C7 would often go to the "connected but no internet" state and I would have to reboot or disable/enable the client or reboot the router. This used to happen several times a week and is the main reason I just replaced it.

Is there a time limit on YouTube videos or do most contributors normally talk so fast? I have to rewind frequently in order to understand what’s being said, but it could be slow processing on my part. 😵‍💫

Actually i switched my mesh wifi a month a go from deco and changed it to linksys velop. My main reason are the durability and the support. Deco is cheap compared to order brands that's why i brought. But after a month of using this it auto restart without any reason. The support hotline is Never fooled because of the price.

Didn't understand the comments at the end about wireless setup versus wired setup. Do you have to do the initial setup in wireless mode and then you can connect them wired for best stability? Or are you saying that a wired connection between the units is never possible?

Mine can’t get past the choose house location step, it’s connected to an Ethernet outlet in the wall and to power so idk what’s going on

Could you put two in house 🏡 and one in garage that’s about 35-45 ft. Away from house 🏠 ?

Can you use 2 nodes? One of them connected to a fibre Ethernet port and the other one, 60-70 feet away, but connected to the modem? Will my electronics get connected without any hassle of disconnecting?

These do work with a wired backhaul. I've seen other videos demonstrating this working. Maybe it wasn't working properly in the firmware at the time you reviewed it? It'd be great if you had a screen capture for your phone screen so we can clearly see what you're showing. Anyhow, a nice summary of these units. I'm still torn between the Deco M5, Eero and Asus Lyra Trio.

Just a question - if i was using the Deco on wifi, could I then use the ethernet cable for my computer? My computer doesnt have wifi, but has an athernet port (my modems throughout the house arent directly connected to ethernet)

Late to the party here, but which port on your modem do you use? Most have one WAN port, and multiple LAN ports. Does the Deco want to be in the WAN or LAN port?

Do you have to create a new network when you set up the main deco? Or can you just connect it to your existing internet?

How close to I keep the "pucks" to each other? I want to expand it all the way to my garage.

Why is mine so unstable? It drops up and down all the time. Im 5 feet away from on of the boxes and we are paying for 300/300 and im getting under 100.
