Lambertones / Obsidian Wire / HSS Solderless Harness Demo & Review

The all new custom tunable HSS solderless wiring harness from Lambertones and Obsidan Wire has arrived!

This harness is a collaboration between Kurtis at Lambertones and Obsidian Wire and provides the user with the ability to chose the tonal character of their split bridge humbucker with the use of a variable trim pot resistor. Setting the trim pot all the way to the left ("quiet" mode) results in a bright tone with a little less output, setting it to the right ("LOUD" mode) results in a fuller tone with a little more output. With this feature, you can finally dial in the split humbucker tone of your dreams, making the split position all that much more useful on the stage or studio.

This 5-way harness makes pickup changes a breeze thanks to the solderless connector Obsidian Wire is known and loved for. This harness also features Obsidian's new range of super sturdy, 'Firm Grip' IGNEOS™ tone and volume controls (which feel really good btw) as well as a treble bleed mod on the main volume control which allows for a consistent tone throughout its range.

If you're looking to mod your HSS Strat and give your split position that extra "umph" it needs, then this harness is right up your alley!

For the record, I've liked and subscribed. That said, unless it's to hear/watch you play, I'll not return. I like & subscribed because I understand it helps your compensation. Additionally, you're very informative and a good teacher. The problem for me as a brand new player is that there don't seem to be channels geared toward that audience, in my view. From where I sit, most if not all YouTube channels are "gear driven", and consist mainly of why that "cheap" but decent guitar you bought could be REALLY good if you buy this, and do that! Finally, most tubers are too busy to interact (I get it) with the comment section, which is why I come here in the first place. Maybe one of these days, my budget guitar adventure will lead me back here.

I bought a Obsidian Wire P-Bass harness and while installing it, it broke. I reached out to Obsidian Wire to see if they have parts to fix it and they where so kind as to send me a complete new one. They are the best. P-Bass sounds as great as it looks. I love my P-Bass.

Is it possible that in the split position the inner coil of humbucker would be working and not the outter one?

Very informative! I'm looking to replace my 1980's Stratocaster pickups with the Triple shot. I love the tone of my pickups, but they are just noisy. From my experience beyond normal 60 cycle hum, Do you find the Lambertones quiet? Also, when splitting the Crema, do you find that it sounds like normal bridge Stratocaster pickup or something close to it? Thanks!

Hi great video and harness!!
I ordered one for my Strat HSS, but I wanted to ask... since my American Standard single coils are 5.90 & 5.95 DC resistance and my Thornbucker+ is 9.1 DC, to avoid having a weak bridge coil split..how do you suggest to set the split?

I've got a JB Jr in my bridge and this seems like the way to go. Does the Duncan pickup have the same color coded wires as the Crema?

So when you want to play with the trim pot you have to take strings off if using locking tuners (don't need to wind so much string) to get underneath? Then adjust restring and tune? Why not make anything adjustable sit in the backing plate area so you can literally adjust on the fly and compare and find that sweet spot immediately..hell even have it on the pickguard with a fancy cap or knob perhaps. Love the concept and I'll be getting one, just a strat bugbear.
