Trick I saw a number of years ago on LTT.

If you cut out the back end of the 4x slot so that a 16x device will fit inside of the slot and hang out the back, you get the 4x speed but can fit a 16x device..

Main thing is some Motherboards this will not work due to other components in the way, and if you make a mistake cutting, you can damage some of the pins on the 4x slot leading to a dead slot.

Wouldn't reccomend if your not confident in the mod, but given that your using relatively affordable components, you likely won't have an issue
