My Place: Olivia Laing

Director Barbara Anastacio visited Laing in her home in Cambridge, which she shares with her husband and British poet Ian Patterson. If you zig-zag around a table covered in papers, circle the cozy corner kitchen, and step past a fluorescent pink poster-poem by Christopher Logue, visitors will eventually be rewarded with enrapturing views of Laing’s garden.

I almost joined the minimalist bandwagon. Put all my books in boxes and asked my husband to give to charity. My husband looked at me and said 'no way, this is not you, you will regret this, you adore all your books'. Thank God I listened!

What a lovely little world she and her husband have created for themselves! Absolutely loved it! I am a minimalist in almost every sense of the word, but when it comes to my books- there simply can never be too many! An ever expanding library is an ever expanding mind. I too hope to have my own "book house" like her husband's someday.
