Brian, This is a VERY helpful video. The last camcorder I owned was a '80s era Panasonic VHS and while my Nikon D7000 camera takes video, I am being seduced by the stabilization and other features of the Sony video cameras. My wife and I are looking toward an upcoming vacation trip, if the COVID-19 virus will relent, and I am thinking to capture video on that excursion. I am watching various videos about the Sony AX53, and you have done an excellent job of demonstrating what the camera will do in 4K, 1080p, zoom in various situations, and the stabilization performance. It's time for a new camcorder and I think the AX700 is the way to go but need feedback please. I'm having a really tough time trying to figure out if any Sony model is worth the extra money versus the AX700. I don't need a handle and I don't need the SDI option. Everything seems to be built off the AX700 model whereas the grip setup of the HXR-NX80 doesn't seem to be worth the extra money, and I don't think the 5Ghz Wifi on the PXW-Z90 is worth the extra money (but as always I could be 100% wrong). I film live soccer games on a weekly basis, where the team then uses the film to breakdown and analyze the game. I typically set up the camcorder on a 10-20 foot tripod at center field. Image needs to be crisp, camcorder needs to adapt to cloudy and sunny days and night games under the lights, and on windy days the camera/tripod can shake a little regardless of the tripod being weighed or tethered down. Soccer can be quick paced at times and I need to be able to zoom when the ball/play is close to either end of the field. Any feedback/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I regret buying this camcorder -- is there a video camera that works the way VHSs worked in the sense that when you start and stop a recording, it will apply it to a single video file that can be watched through in one stream. I hate that when I start and stop a recording, I'm left with a ridiculous number of separate clips that I then need to stitch together in post in order to create something seamless. For someone who doesn't know much about cameras and is looking for something simple for home videos, doing all this editing to combine clips is way too much work.

Very good review. Nice job. Just to clarify for your viewers, the sensor is a 1/2.5 type (0.28 in) back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS Sensor. It is not a 1 inch sensor as mentioned.

Why does it use only 8MP out of 16 when recording in 4K???
