I was in a 24 foot sailboat with 20 foot waves crashing all around us. The moment I said “I’m scared, ” dolphins flanked us and stayed with us until we reached safety

In reality, dolphins have saved humans on many occasions. In two (sort of) similar incidents, one in 2004 and one in 2007, pods of dolphins circled imperiled surfers for over thirty minutes in order to ward off aggressive great white sharks

A friendly dolphin has saved a teenage boy from drowning. Non-swimmer Davide Ceci, 14, was within minutes of death when dolphin Filippo came to his rescue. The friendly 61-stone creature has been a popular tourist attraction off Manfredonia in south-east Italy for two years

No one knows why, but dolphins have been saving people for thousands of years. Dating back to Ancient Greece, there are dozens of claims of dolphins rescuing people from sharks, helping drowning sailors, and guiding boats through rough waters

Some scientists believe that dolphins instinctively come to the assistance of other injured dolphins and that it's a small step for them to help humans too. However dolphins obviously realise that humans aren't dolphins. Some scientists think dolphins help humans merely because they are curious

I have a friend who's boat capsized and he lost his 14 year old daughter in the storm the very next morning she was found being pulled into the dock where the search party was getting ready to leave. a group of dolphins had found her. my buddy calls them sea angels.

I was on an 82ft Coast Guard cutter, the Point out Hurricane Frederick to rescue a shrimp boat. Was in seas like you see in the movie The Perfect survived it!

I was on the aircraft carrier the USS Midway. We went through a pretty bad storm off the coast of Hong Kong. The smaller ships in our fleet had to go into Hong Kong and wait for the storm to end meanwhile we were still in the ocean in the storm and our ship was literally swaying side-to-side almost on its sides. I have never seen so many men getting motion sickness and just throwing up. We had to stay up on the flight deck and constantly tie-down our airplanes because they were getting loose and started to roll a little bit this way and then a lil bit that way and before you know it they were rolling pretty good. We had to tie each airplane down with 24 tiedown chains just to keep them from rolling off the sides of the aircraft carrier. Do you have any idea how hard it was to carry (24) 15 lb tie-down chains (360 lbs)and walking the distance from end-to-end on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier which happens to be 3 football fields long while the ship was literally rocking from one side to the other while getting nailed by these monster waves as you're trying to navigate down the flight deck without losing your balance from all those chains hanging off your shoulders and then you'd probably wind up going right into the ocean with 360 lbs of chains wrapped around u?! I'll tell you what, that was a rough day at the office. It was both exciting & yet very terrifying. USS Midway CV-41 VFA-192

Once I was on an early morning walk long the beach and a dolphin popped out of the ocean and escorted me down the beach. I smiled at the dolphin and I thought I saw it smiling back at me. That was one of my greatest life experiences.

Hard to even imagine the isolation of being in the middle of the ocean in these conditions. You're 100% at the mercy of the sea.

I was on a tiger cruise on the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN, it was an experience. Especially if you’ve never been on a ship before, didn’t have waves like this but it was still scary. When they’d move faster at night, the ride got pretty rough. Everything was sliding across the floors from the ship rocking, I could never work on a ship. It takes a special personality to deal with living on an Navy aircraft carrier, major kudos to those tough men and women who live and work on these massive ships. Tiger cruise is when family get to go on a ship to experience what our loved ones who live/work on these ships, you gain a whole new respect of what they’d go through for months even years. I know I could never do it, thank you all military men and women 🙏❤️

There are 2 things in the water that pop up . The one to the right pops up first and not as high . I'm guessing whales swimming on the surface and the waves are popping them up . Maybe having fun like when dolphins ride the bow of a ship

Looks like a whale getting fresh air. So hard to tell with these videos. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of one drowning at open sea. It makes you feel really small once you feel that power. Stay safe sailors.

I was on a 25' San Juan sail boat off the coast of the Chesapeake Bay in the Atlantic Ocean...first night was beautiful . We woke to a driving rain, 14' waves and an angry sea. Jib sail stuck trying to bring it down. My husband had to give me the helm while he walked out to untangle the sail. It was everything I could do to hold that wheel. I've been scared before, but I was sick with scare...after it was over... While it's happening, you don't have time to panic or be afraid. You use your head, remember all the training you've done. Our almost 3 year old daughter was aboard. In the middle of the chaos, we tied her to the boat below deck, with full life saving gear on. The knot was one she could have done a quick release if she needed. This storm continued just shy of three hours. We were exhausted. The only injury was myself with two cracked, badly bruised ribs...I slipped on the wet stairs of the companionway...metal stairs...from top to bottom...I was still holding the railings when I slid down...it was too wet to get a grip on it. I've seen big waves....tip, don't watch them... keep your eyes on the flat horizon 😉

In 1990 I decided I wanted to join the Navy because my grandfather served 30 years in the Navy. The recruiter showed me some pics of him on an aircraft carrier with waves crashing over the front of the carrier. If the carrier were sitting on dry land, the front of it is about as tall as the third floor of a building. I enjoyed my career in the Army.
