Testing in a rapid fashion???? I had a test on July 27 and received my results on Aug 13. I have surgery coming up, but have to have a COVID test no longer than 3 days before surgery...how can anyone guarantee that I will have the test in time? I live in the National Capital Region, and it makes me sick how Trump and everyone in the White House has tests daily and gets responses rapidly...Not so for those of us in the suburbs (and, no...I am not a white housewife. I dedicated 34 years to Federal service as an emergency manager. About 2/3 of the career required me to be on 24/7 duty and my commitment caused me to miss much of my girls’ growing up. I had to retire last Thanksgiving 2019 after being forced out when my disabilities required accommodation. The stress pushed me to develop PTSD after hiding my depression after serving on site in many international disaster sites from 1987 to 1991 and domestic disasters from 1991 to 2006. I was a senior response officer for FEMA and DHS, so was an essential leader during the responses. And, yes, II was involved in pandemic planning that stretched from the mid-1990s through Obama & Biden efforts. Trump threw out almost 20 years of multi-agency and multi-levels of government planning, exercises, lessons learned from Ebola, SARS and swine flu outbreaks around the world, then adapt plans, stockpile of materials, etc. Trump threw out the Obama/Biden playbook, dismissed the pandemic office that had been working with WHO, other nations’ Ministries of Health, etc. and advised the President on an imminent pandemic.mmTrump took acquisition work that left the new administration to only supply the FY17 funding to refresh the Strategic National Stockpile...The sad thing is VP Biden and our intelligence organizations warned Trump but Trump paid no heed because it would disrupt his holiday vacations and golfing in Mar a Lago, travel to India, and his rallies that serve to boost his ego. Trump may not want to take responsibility for the botched response, but it comes with the job...and history will judge him and his sycophants as guilty for every unnecessary death and permanent injuries to those who recover.
