OK, I'm a veteran, and my patience is waning. Sargeant Major Walz served for 20 years, was set to retire then, and extended for 4 years after 09/11. That is my understanding, and I hope I read that correctly.
My question is, when is it enough? At what point do we get credit for our service? Should it be the number of dead and wounded fellow service members we lose? How many things, of a horrible nature, do we have to see, and therefore live with, haunting our sleep for the rest of time, before it counts?
People, he served 24 years! That is just effing amazing on its own. What do civilians actually expect of us? Because we are getting housing and health care, I guess we should just do it forever, or until the great beyond calls? Whatever. Sgt Walz is 10x the man of 99% of us. We should all strive to be more like him. 😢😢

As a retired Navy, I don't need any explanation from Tim Walz! I need an explanation from JD Vance on why he had to take this losing route! He probably didn't enjoy his life in the Marines and it's the reason why 4 years was enough for him. He didn't reach a point in his military service to experience retirement. He knows nothing about how military retirement works!
