In Canada $20 won’t even cover breakfast. Crazy how taxes in Canada are just as high as Japan but our health care and living expenses are terrible

Here in indonesia u literally can eat porridge for less than 1$ for breakfast. And the portion is alot, and eat a delicious rice dish called nasi kuning which is served with eggs and sambal cost less than 1$ too.

In Vietnam, you can have 3 meals at cheap food stalls for about 4$. 20$ can last you a week if you don't have breakfast at all

See this is why I don't understand folks who say food in Japan is expensive. If you mostly western style food, sure it will be.
But, can you get an ekiben from the train station next? They're my favourite! There are limitless varieties and many are specific to only one location!

Thats fairly cheap, around half the price of food in australia now, when i visited japan 15 years ago it was more equal, glad to see japans food prices havent inflated like crazy
