The blur tool is a curse on the skin, but a blessing in backgrounds.

I swear I’ve never learned more about digital art more than I have from your channel😂
Edit: I realized this was worded way wrong, I meant I learn a lot more from this channel than I do from others😂

i don‘t completely agree on this one
don‘t only draw pretty people, draw real people!! actually, it‘s harder to draw „ugly“ faces that look „good“ (good as in looking natural, like it’s supposed to be like that, not like you messed up), because we‘re used to drawing perfectly symmetrical pretty faces
but drawing other types of ppl is actually a good exercise, cuz if you only draw the same pretty, young and flawless faces, you‘ll not be able to draw anything else and all your characters will look more or less the same, i think having more diversity is good
sadly i myself did it that way too, i can only draw cute girls and pretty boys now, but what if i wanna draw a middle aged karen :( or kids, i can‘t draw kids cuz i‘m not used to the proportions

0:50 best way to speedrun same face syndrome and make the most boring art on the internet holy shit please don’t take this advice, you’ll get stuck in a loop of drawing the same faces over and over and will never develop skill and variety in your art. Do whatever you want but if you’re looking to work on improving, variety in subjects is literally the best thing you can do for yourself, you literally learn this shit by taking art in highschool or listening to any professional for more than ten seconds.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with your statement to not draw "ugly" people. Lol I get that what's considered conventionally attractive is symmetry, and that symmetry is helpful when you're first learning and understanding proportions, but there are loads of other ways to understand proportions that don't have you falling back on symmetry. Draw whatever the hell you feel like drawing, even when you're just a beginner and don't fully understand how to draw that thing, don't avoid things you want to draw just because you struggle with it. That's how you end up developing a very small visual library and things like "same face" syndrome in your drawings; you get too comfortable with one specific thing and it becomes a crutch you'll unconsciously fall back on for the rest of your life unless you work to unlearn it and introduce new things. I've been drawing for over two decades now, and one of the most ridiculously common things that I hear from other artists is "I only know how to draw attractive/pretty people." Like jeeze, draw "ugly" faces if that's what you want to do! Draw pretty faces! Draw everything in-between! Don't limit yourself simply because it might make things a little easier for you, there's learning in the struggle and mistakes. The more diversity you introduce in your reference, the more diverse you're going to be able to draw so long as you practice, period. This artist is one person's opinion amongst millions, don't take their word as gospel if it doesn't feel right for you. There was good advice in this video, for sure, but this specific point just felt short sighted and needlessly harsh.

Uhhh the ugly people thing just really rubbed me the wrong way but other than that, good advice.
Beginners won't to be able to get the complex face structures and the age lines or the fat content in faces (that are different from the "traditional" so called beauty standards) and it would be so much easier to pick a pretty Pinterest girl to understand the basics first.
You can build your knowledge up from there onwards cause drawing the supposed 'ugly' people is not at all an easy thing to do. So yeah, solid advice thought I would cut back on catergorizing people into ugly and pretty, because beauty is subjective.
But yeah, I get your point.

Also, the comments down here are really sad to read. These people here are going on and on about how they are ugly and how they wouldn't be able to draw themselves due to that exact kind of idea. And I sincerely hope they are all joking and not being serious because that is really toxic and is just creating insecurities and bad self esteem among your viewers.
