My wife and I were there last year! Beautiful structure and we really enjoyed touring the entire city. The pipe organ is incredible as well.

I'd seen so many photos of the exterior of Hallgrimskirkja before visiting Iceland, but I was surprised how simplistic the interior looked. Still, as the tallest church in Iceland, its exterior is such a stunning unique design, and I love its connection to Iceland's landscapes.

Hallgrimskirkja is very different from most churches you'll find in Iceland, which are usually quite small. Also another fun fact: the majority of Iceland's churches are Lutheran, including Hallgrimskirkja.

With Reykjavik being a relatively small and walkable city, it's extremely easy to find and visit this church. Highly recommend spending at least a few minutes here if you visit Reykjavik!

Edit: I misspoke by saying it's just made of granite! It's built of concrete with a granite facade :)

My ancestor is Hallgrímur Pétursson and that church is named after him he is a famous priest in iceland.

Quick tip for if you want to help your pronunciations not sound like razorblades and broken glass dragged across a chalkboard pronounce í as e they made the same sound and in fact sounds nothing like i. Í should be the simplest letter for an English speaker to pronounce but for whatever reason nobody ever checks how the funky looking letters are pronounced.
