SR-71 Blackbird vs MiG-25 Foxbat Aircraft Comparison of Two Fastest Aircraft In The World.

The MiG-25 has presented as much an enigmatic image as the Blackbird, at times being reported as invincible, and at other times being dismissed as practically prehistoric in its approach high speed and altitude flight. In the late 1960s, the USSR revealed the existence of the aircraft that appeared to be the world’s deadliest fighter, the MiG-25 (NATO reporting name “Foxbat”). This aircraft could outrun any fighter in the air, and indeed any military aircraft other than the SR-71 Blackbird.

The official altitude record is 37, 650 m, by Alexandr Fedotov (USSR) flying a highly modified MIG-25 on 31 August 1977.

Миг25 все ещё работает и является самым быстрым истребителем перехватчиком в мире.

Random fact: the SR71 was built with purchased Soviet material

SR-71...It is undeniably the best, I am going more for technology and I think that the American aircraft had enough, but after its retirement the Mig 25 Foxbat was used for atmospheric studies, it is also a tremendous aircraft that marked a lot of history worldwide as the most feared adversary to deal! very good work from design bureau Mikoyan Gurevich

Unofficially, the maximum speed for a moment 25 was reached over 4000 kilometers per hour. You did not indicate the most important moment 25 was a fully combat aircraft that could conduct an air battle, but the SR71 was not. If found, it means destroyed. And the flight altitude is much higher than you indicated at the moment of 25

Here we go again .. two aircraft with mainly different missions and requirements .. but in keeping with many of the videos in this series, this is a good comparison for the most part, maybe a little short ..

Well. they are very different planes...one can take pictures and the other can fly almost as fast with rockets attached to it.

The SR-71 was designed to cruise at Mach 3.2 for as long as it had fuel. Its engines were most efficient at that speed. Its top speed was higher yet and it is still classified. The MiG-25 could only fly faster than Mach 3 for only a short duration. Flying faster than Mach 2.8 for any extended period of time would result in severe engine damage.

The Mig-25 Foxbat is already a thing of the past that was replaced since the 80s by the more potent Mig-31 Foxhound that is a heavy interceptor capable of Mach 3 speed.

did you know that Mig-25R is stuff of legends. In 1997, on a secret mission to photograph sensitive defence sites, it broke the sound barrier right over Islamabad sending shock waves over the entire city. Before the Pakistan Air Force could scramble its own jets to intercept it, the Mig-25 was safely within the Indian territory. infact it is said that the mig 25 purposefully accelerated to mach 3.3 and cause a sonic boom in pakistan so that he could show that pakistans air force is a kid in front of indan airforce and its actualy true even today !!

both created by genius, but they uncomparable...different purposes and targets...

The outright altitude record was set by a mig-25 and it still stands today! More research required for your videos is much needed. 🤷

The Mig 25 could briefly fly at a speed of 4000 km / h, so it was faster than the sr71

SR71 is beautiful, my compliments. The Americans are great.

Ok, I see a lot of "experts". The text below its just a short reproduction of some facts about the two aircraft.
"An aircraft reaches its maximum speed when the drag balances out the thrust of its engines. The thrust of two Mig-25th engines at an altitude of more than 18km was balanced by drag only at a speed of more than 4000 km/h. This is the highest theoretical limit for al jet-powered aircraft. The thrust required to maintain a uniform flight is equal to the ratio of the weight of an aircraft to its aerodynamic quality in the specific conditions of this flight. The A-quality of Mig-25 at 20km altitude and a speed of M2.8 (3000 km/h) is about 3.8. The required engine thrust for an efficient flight in these conditions (20 tons mass) is 5700 kgf (7400 with 28 tons). Meanwhile, the thrust of two R15 engines of Mig-25 at 20km and a speed of 3000 km/h is 11500 kgf. (e.g. two times more than required). This is why a fully armed Mig-25 (30 tons weigh) makes a uniform flight at 3000km/h speed. The A-quality of Mig-25 decreases as the speed increases and the balance of thrust and drag occurs only above 4000 km/h. In fact, the highest speed achieved by the Mig-25 in horizontal flight was M 3.6 (3800km/h, 1971, pilot Nikolai Stogov). In fact, the speed limitation of M 2.8 was only theoretical. If necessary, the Mig-25 can exceed both the speed and flight time without damaging. There is widespread speculation that flight above M3 would damage the Mig-25 engine. However, the R15 engine was designed to work in such conditions and behaved more like a ram-jet but not a classical turbojet at speed above M2.
In comparison, the maximum speed of SR-71 was limited by the thrust/drag equality by M3.4. It is the maximum possible flight speed. The thrust reserve was much less than that of the Mig (in 1976 the crew goal of 2.200 mph was failed and SR-71 reached only 2.193 under the best possible atmospheric conditions. The plane was flying at the limits of its capabilities)."

It takes days to prepare blackbird for a flight but it takes minutes and if not hours to get the MIG's airborne... And having thousands of MIG 25 then the MIG is the winner

Each SR-71 could fly only once per week due to the extended turnaround
required after mission recovery. A total of 32 aircraft were built; 12
of which (one third of the entire fleet) were lost in accidents.
