DNA helps find the answer. Discovering ways to code and analyze it has changed the way we look at everything, even characters that don’t seem real. Discovering its structure was a major breakthrough. Every living thing has a two-helix genetic code that affects every function. The more accurate term for what’s commonly known as a “caveman” would be a Neanderthal. They were a primitive hominid or human-like species. They interbred with humans, also known as homo sapiens, throughout the years. That’s why at least a percentage of our DNA comes from them.

Analyzing Neanderthal DNA from fossils is a daunting task. It’s fragile and prone to breaking or contamination. Years of effort from brave scientists have finally created a database big enough for those who want to do their own studies. A recent study set out to answer a puzzling question. Why is there more Neanderthal DNA in Asian populations when next to no Neanderthal fossils have been found there?

The answer was a change in timelines. Homo sapiens who were farmers in the Neolithic transition had their Neanderthal ancestry diluted via inbreeding when they went to Europe. Homo sapiens can still feel the effects of their ancient ancestors. Neanderthal DNA can have benefits such as improved immune responses but also contribute to health issues such as blood clots and neurological problems.

This makes studies into the history of Neanderthal DNA important for more than just cataloging their development. It could also lead to important medical developments or lead to revelations in other fields.

Why does the narrator voice switch from American to Australian multiple times? Well done bots

The neanderthals were the same humans like us, they were very bright, survived to harsh conditions, and interbred, not died out.

Good voice (!), doesn't know what syllables to accent on common words - like percentage. How much effort does it take to get someone human to read the script? Don't be lazy.

"Neanderthals?" Oh, you mean the Jotnar. We know a lot about them.
(They never called themselves Neanderthals, obviously)

Hell the past and the future, thanks for the science, tough times

To save you time -- 7:34 -- interbreeding with non-Neanderthals reduced the amount of Neanderthal DNA in Europeans.

Wrong! Males are Y and females X. This is so basic !
