A week ago, I lost my mom. I've been going through my own sort of process to deal with this loss, but one thing I remember is how y'all kept repeating the phrase "marginally better". I'm considerably better today than I was a week ago when I first was dealing with it, but I just remembered this painting since I was wanting something to get from your RedBubble. Thank you for your painting, and thank you and Stephen for sharing your lives and your loss. (Also, side note, congrats on the surgery!)

This is such a touching peice, I can tell that mal really put her heart and soul into it(not that she doesn't with every painting) it was done so well and makes me want to play mother 3 even more

I wanted to let you know that I’ve been following malmakes since your first painting. I would show my mom my favorites and have bought some of your works as items. My mom always loved your work and laughed when I’d show her how your cats would show up in some videos. She recently passed away from cancer and I ordered a queen sized throw blanket of this piece for my bed considering the origin of this painting. I meant for this to come off as something positive to share so I hope this doesn’t feel too heavy.

I know how difficult loss can be to deal with. I've lost many pets and family members over the course of my life, and it's always difficult. And as a writer, I know that getting back into your art when you've just had that happen in your life can be very difficult. But, as you pointed out with the quote from Bob Ross, there will always be good times to follow the bad times.


You inspire me, Mal. Your love of art, teaching, and video games all come through in your videos and paintings, and it makes me want to put art out into the world. Thank you for everything that you do, and I hope you and those close to you can experience those good times for as long as possible! <3

Love love love how gorgeous this painting is. I really want to do a sunflower based piece too. Sunflowers are an amazing and beautiful flower. I really love the quote, "I want to be like a sunflower; so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight." and plan on involving it in my own piece when I get around to it.

This piece represents a lot for you, with your recent loss and the impact this game had on you. And I think thats a really special thing as well and I'm excited to continue to watch the process of it coming together. ❤❤❤

I haven't known about you, Stephen or your cats for very long, but I love animals enough that I instantly became emotionally attached to them. I only just saw the vlog(s) about Sagan's death yesterday and I myself was distraught to the point where I needed healing of my own and help transitioning. I think this did it for me. Love you guys.

Honestly, I hadn't watched any MalMakes videos until recently. And then I kicked myself for not subscribing sooner. I adore you on StephenPlays and Vlogs, and saw some of your art and fell in love with it. I've already purchased two prints, but now I really want this one to add. It's beautiful.

Hi Mal, I've been a fan of you and Stephen for a long time. I was 12 when I first found Stephen's channel. I watched the entire minecraft playthrough and I was hooked from there. I'm now 19 years old and still watching Stephenplays, Stephenvlog, and Malmakes. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. The quality and editing is superb, and you're always so cheery and happy so you never fail to put me in a good mood. Stephen is definitely a lucky guy.

This was already one of my favorite paintings Mal has made because of what this scene means to me from one of my favorite games but with the extra context on the choice and knowing this is mals fav game, I can see just how much this means to her.
