After writing a forthright blog about her views on gender identity, the artist Jess de Wahls has been accused of being a transphobe. Recently her critics hunted her down and she was cancelled - then un-cancelled. She joins SpectatorTV to tell her story.

how can we stop this sort of thing happening to people? having opinions should not affect your job and your ability to earn an income. I am sick of seeing people get cancelled, fired from their jobs and losing their livelihood because their opinion is not woke enough...this is really disgusting...have we learned nothing from Nazi Germany? this lady is obviously not anti trans, but even if she was anti trans - so what?! it should have no effect on whether her art is shown or not.

I'm not sure why it's worth defending the left liberal types when they are cancelled, where were they during the years actual conservatives were experiencing the same thing?

For example what about an artist that not only disagreed with aspects of trans ideology where it impacted feminism and women, but also was happy to say that they did not "stand with the LGBT community"? Would she support them?

Some of these people who think themselves as artists are really political activists.Artists are not supposed to belong to any tribe and should feel free to make art without feeling threatened.I am glad this lady has spoken out.

I typically donate to arts institutions several thousands of dollars a year. I completely stopped due to the ridiculous and overwhelming adoption of Woke non-sense and propaganda signaling from all creative institutions.
