The uniqueness of the original song is its simplicity and beautiful harmonies. The way that Susannah Hoff sings sounds effortless and deeply emotional...like she‘s truly singing from the heart and meaning every single one of those words. It’s a happy love song, yet there’s a pain and longing that can be felt.

And the part where the song transitions from ‘is this burning an eternal flame’ to ‘say my name, sun shine through the rain...’. is epic; you know ‘the hairs on the back of my neck go up’ type feeling...

The problem I have with 99% of the cover versions is that the singers over do the singing by stretching the words too much (I’m not familiar with correct music terminology so excuse my lame description) and lack the deep emotion in their voices. Too much music too whereas the original was almost entirely voice led. The essence of the song gets lost.

This version is an exception to all those covers. I was never a huge Westlife fan, but I must say Shane Filan has done a fine job!
