LYRICS-
My eyes are open wide
And by the way, I made it
Through the day
I watched the world outside
By the way, I'm leaving out
Today

I just saw Hayley's comet
She waved
Said why you always running
In place?
Even the man in the
Moon disappeared
Somewhere in the
Stratosphere

[Chorus]
Tell my mother,
Tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize
This is my life
I hope they understand
I'm not angry, I'm just saying...
Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance

Please don't cry
One tear for me
I'm not afraid of
What I have to say
This is my one and
Only voice
So listen close, it's
Only for today

I just saw Hayley's comet
She waved
Said why you always running
In place?
Even the man in the
Moon disappeared
Somewhere in the
Stratosphere

[Chorus]
Tell my mother,
Tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize
This is my life
I hope they understand
I'm not angry, I'm just saying...
Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance

Here's my chance
This is my chance

Tell my mother,
Tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize
This is my life
I hope they understand
I'm not angry, I'm just saying...
Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance

Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance [x2]

My son had a brain tumor. He requested this song to be played at his funeral if he didn't make it through his surgery. Thank GOD he made it. That was 13 years ago.

Songs like this are so beautiful. It signifies non-conformity and individuality. Its about following your passions and not missing out on ample opportunities in life and not letting anyone hold you down, even if its your parents.

Sometimes, it's time to turn and leave.
Sometimes you have to race the wind and ride away.
Sometimes the best place is no where as you move to wherever you are supposed to be next.

When I was leaving the parking lot after my sons funeral this song was on the radio. I never heard it before it has been 12 years since my son overdosed. This song will forever be mine and Jimmys

Makes me feel crazy how this song just randomly appeared into my library one day and I liked it so much, that I thought it was like a life's gift to me; then, went to listen it today after a tough day and just came to my mind ''what would other people think about this song?'' and made me feel more crazy that literally everyone loves it, lol.

Somehow, this guy makes us feel understood in a very controversially stage of our lives, choosing our path.

When I was younger I loved this song and I didn't even know why. 10 years later Im on the ass end of depression and shit is falling apart.

But I'm still listening with a smile

This song is for every family scapegoat, to finally let go and set themselves free. At least that’s my take on this wonderful song. And no more trying to get their parents approval. If they can’t see what a true gem you are then let them go. Love them from a distance. Hallelujah

The lyrics definitely resonate with me. Took my own path and it has no room for my parents. My Goddesses have been the parents I never had, I am stronger and becoming emotionally balanced than I ever have been. I am grateful, I chose me and I am never alone. Hail Hekate! 🖤💞✨👸🏻💃🏻

This song has been on the tip of my tongue for like 4/5 years. I couldn’t remember any of the words until today. It feels good man, it feels good. Now I’m playing this song on repeat for a couple days.

Also, if someone finds this in like a year, please comment so I don’t forget the song again lol. Thanks!

My son played this song for me year's ago and he warned me it was deep. It has stuck with me all this time. Today I asked him what the name of it was because all I could remember was Halley's Comet. He brought me right to it.This song speaks volumes.

This song came out the year I graduated high school and I wanted to travel, not knowing how to tell my mom thats whats I wanted. I used this song and she understood. It came into my life at the right time and everytime I hear it I get goosebumps.

I was 15 when this song came out. 12 years later I still love it just as much as I did back then

I feel like I relate to this song so much. It's been one of my favorites since I was like 3 or 4 and now 9-10 years later it still is. Brent Smith (lead singer of Shinedown) has such an amazing voice. This song just makes my heart happy, y'know, except for the fact that I always cry while listening to this song because it reminds me of a friend I have who attempted. Thankfully they made it though and I'm so grateful that they did.🙃🙃
