There has been a lot of debate and heated conversation concerning how the Eucharist is to be received: in the Hand v/s on the tongue. To decipher this correctly, we need to first understand What the Holy Eucharist IS, the Eucharistic Lord's unimaginable sanctity and Holiness. The rest of the conclusions can logically be derived from this, The major problem with Catholics of today is their lack of comprehension of this marvellous gift of the Eucharist! Saint Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians warns us whoever therefore eats the Bread and drinks the Cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty in profaning the Body and Blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself and so eat of the Bread and drink of the Cup, for anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the Body eats and drinks judgment upon himself, that is why many of you are weak and ill and some have died.
Three fundamental steps in preparing for Holy Communion:
* Free ourselves from mortal sins we have committed since our last good Confession
* Detachment from all creatures driving from our heart everything that is not of God and for God.
* The desire to receive Our Lord Jesus Christ with the view of loving Him more.
Thanksgiving after receiving Holy Communion consists of four parts:
* An act of adoration, where we adore the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in us.
* An act of reparation, where we offer the Holy Communion received in reparation for all the sins committed against the Sacred Heart of Jesus
* An act of thanksgiving, where we thank God for all the benefits received from His hands.
* An act of supplication. Here we ask for specially for our spiritual needs - our conversion, our sanctification and all other spiritual requirements
