Why I Deleted Instagram: 1 Year Update

1 year after I have decided to delete my Instagram, these are the changes Ive noticed in my mental health and overall life. When I tell you it changes have been INSANE they are, stay tuned till. the end.

I started getting social media at 14/15 i spent all my teen years and adulthood on them now being 28 i permanently got rid of them now im slowly feeling better

I was the same when I heard people say they were taking a break or leaving social media. I use to think they must have had a fight with their friends or family members. When they came back I assumed they have made up.
But years later now I get it! I feel social media isn’t good for my mental health. So I deleted all social media apart from YouTube as I do find YouTube useful for me. I can search recipes, repairers, DIY projects etc. I don’t see people ignoring me, people posting photos from parties I wasn’t invited too. Etc
Once I deleted all my social media I felt like a huge relief. It’s so weird I feel like I had a huge burden of stress. Now I feel at peace and relaxed

I didn't have an IG account but used Facebook frequently. Last year I deleted my account just on an impulse. I thought, "Well I'll just do it for a month." And a month turned into another and another. It's been 13 months now and I can't say that I miss anything about it.

I just deleted my Instagram! It was a similar situation to you, I woke up a few days ago and something just told me to delete it and so I did! I had gotten off of Snapchat and Twitter in 2022 and have been off tiktok for a few months now. Not sure how long I’ll stay off instagram but I’m excited to see how life feels when I’m not constantly engaged on Instagram

I am also in Atlanta. I own an online business and made my career on social and yet I HATE what IG has done to my life. Thank you for this inspo. My YouTube was recently hacked and everything deleted…I’m using this as an opportunity to refocus my energy here. Thanks again for the great message.

I’ve taken multiple breaks from IG, one being two years long. I’m debating leaving the app altogether again but I can’t lie I be wanting to post my cute pics and I made some genuine friends online so I’m torn about leaving the app for good.

I haven’t been into Instagram much since early 2017, but every now and then I’ll make an account and then get annoyed with it and delete it. I deleted for good at the end of 2022 and now I don’t have any social media and really don’t even get on Tiktok much. What you said about being able to think for yourself and be more understanding of other people’s views and opinions is spot on. I’ve noticed the same thing for me once I stopped using social media so heavily. I’ll download Tiktok for a week or two at a time then take like a 2 month break from it. My tolerance for social media is so low now 😭

Your story is very relatable right now as I am struggling to delete it. I prayed about it. I’m giving myself a timeframe to delete it. You can also transfer all your videos and pictures to Google photos so you didn’t have to screenshot certain pictures. I transferred all my pictures and now I’m in the process of thinking about deleting it, but after watching your video and hearing your testimony, I think I made my decision. I’ve been reading my Bible a lot more and I knew that social media was blocking my ultimate blessings from God. Thank you for sharing.

I have also deleted social media (snapchat/instagram) since 2 months and i feel a lot you say and recognize them. I feel inner peace and that i started knowing myself better. And i stopped subconciously comparing myself to others and my confidence went up like crazy and i see the world is so much more beautiful then what we see on social media. Its a fake world on social media where many people live in i am blessed that i am free from that and i know everybody can do it too if you really want too. you are so right imagine if people actually had the money to change their face to match the filters which alot online are actually doing and payed for by social media ironically lol your a natural beauty and people need to value their natural features before they chop them off. instagram is not normal at all unless your an advertising company but not for personal use
