08 Backup and Restore - FreePBX 101 v15

New for 2021! FreePBX 101 v15 is a comprehensive tutorial series that covers everything you need to know to plan for, install, and configure the open source FreePBX phone system from Sangoma.

In this video, we will go over how to properly set up local backups on the FreePBX server. Keep in mind, that any production system should NOT only store backups locally on the hard drive of the FreePBX server (what happens when the hard drive fails?). You should always also set up an offiste backup in addition to any local backups.

Thank you for your videos I’ve always loved watching them. Your updates freepbx came at a perfect time as I just started watching the old one while considering a switch. It would be cool if you cover voicemail and if freepbx has an voicemail to email feature. Someone else said soft phones and I second that.

Thank you for the awesome, step by step walkthrough... I have been building PBX's up for the longest time and for some reason I convinced myself it was far more complicated then it actually was.
I had to Migrate a server to a different cloud image... many of my PBX's I stupidly rebuilt manually.
In this case I followed all your steps and added the 2 following extra folders given the voicemails and custom sound recordings for the IVR's

Could you give example of how to include in the backup of the custom greetings and extension information and firmware i believe the tftp info. I looking for what custom files or directories need to be included to do a bare metal recovery of the FreePBX server.

Hi. I really need help with this topic. I’m trying to setup a backup for my freepbx server to another server that’s on my network (a different VLAN but the two VLANs can talk via my firewall) but I’m not able to make it work. I tried to setup an FTP Fileserver but when the backup task ends I got a message with “no backup created - can’t connect to the host” but I tried to ftp to the same server with same credential from my laptop and it works…. Can you/anybody help me please?

I realize that maybe I am not the only one who has OBI200 devices he wants to use with FreePBX. Can you please do a video on how to set up an OBI200 as an extension on FreePBX? Pretty please? FreePBX has a guide for the OBi 110 but that device has reached end of life now.
