How does a show called Sports Science not know which pad goes on the left and right leg on a goalie?

Who put that goalies pads on for him!? he would have stopped 100% if they were on the correct legs...

George Parros and "sharp shooter" have never been used in the same sentence before.

The fact that no one in net moves, or is positioned properly in net might have something to do with it

the sumo is like, "yeah, people underestimate my physical abilities." ... [doesn't move in net]

- backwards pads
- "80 mile per hour slapshots"
- "NHL sharpshooter George Parros"

How much effort was actually put in to prepare this guy for the net? He doesn't look like he has a clue what to do. At the very least, he could have spent some time with an NHL goalie to learn the basics. Every hockey fan has pondered the subject of this video at least once in their life, but this just doesn't answer the question. People want to know what would happen in theory if you took a big guy and gave him the skills to succeed.

Though, the answer would still likely be the same, even if a fat goalie had the same reflexes and skills, they just wouldn't be able to move fast enough to be statistically viable. That's disregarding the fact that goalies have strict restrictions of the dimensions of their equipment. There's technically no size restrictions on players, but if they can't fit into regulation equipment, they can't play.

lol georges role as an enforcer definitely overshadows the fact hes actually a sniper. won Anaheims superskills comp in target shooting 3 years in a row.

People just don't realize how big hockey goals are and how accurate NHL shooters are. They're four feet high and six feet wide. That's 24 square feet. Nobody could possibly cover that entire space with just size alone. And these guys aren't just throwing it at the net and hoping it goes in. They're aiming for very specific spots and they are frequently on the mark.

Every single time a non goalie goes on tv to play a goalie they always put the pads on the wrong legs, it's hilarious

I'm a hockey goalie and I'm the smallest on the team. But I am fast with great reflects. And I put my pads on the right way

The point of the experiment is to show that the reason NHL teams DON'T just get big guys to cover up as much of the ring as possible is because even a player who's not known for his killer shots can still pretty much well hit whatever part of the goal he's aiming at, and that hockey goalies really DO have the toughest job in sports and NEED to be quick rather than just wall-like. I think this experiment made its point. Goalies deserve their respect.

Am I the only goalie that cringes when I see sport "experts" put goalie pads on the wrong

Although it would probably end up being similar results, I could see this being more effective in an actual hockey game. Sure the goalie only takes up 70% of the net, but that's straight on with no defense men. If you consider an actual game where most shots are taken from the side, the angle would increase the goalies coverage of the net. Throw in a defense man or two, and some shots could be close to 100% coverage.

this editing is surprisingly good for a 2009 video

They forgot the most important thing about being a goalie which is anticipation of where the puck is They aren't reacting to when the puck is already traveling towards them half the time but rather watching the shot and estimating where the puck will be going.

I miss Parros, it was great to have him as a Hab even if it was only for a little while.
