The Center for Countering Digital Hate put out a new report a few days ago, in which they warn that climate misinformation continuous to flourish on YouTube. They want YouTube to take more action. I had a look and I don't like what I read.

When you combine politics and science, you get politics.

Also, people become very distrustful when you are told you can only hear one side of an argument.

It's not science if you cannot question it!

100% agreed. Having an “arbiter of truth” feels very Orwellian to me. Supression can be just as dangerous as misinformation.

Sabine didn't address the elephant in the room, which is "Why is The Center For Countering Digital Hate" even weighing in on this? Is disagreeing with the establishment narrative or the current scientific consensus "hate"? It sure looks like that's how they're defining it.

One of the biggest problem I have with all of this is that, few years ago, YouTube cut out the only tool us viewers had to flag badly written content: dislikes.
Now it’s all in the hands of a single corporate entity and an algorithm, which can lead to many of the problems you mentioned.

Great video Sabine!

Yeah, these billionaires flying around, eating steak at 40k feet, telling me I’m a “new denier”

Meanwhile, I’m sipping out of a soggy straw

I find the word “authoritative” in the phrase authoritative scientific consensus to be a major red flag.

The problem is that calling politicians out for going to Davos on a private plane while telling us we must change our lifestyle could very well be included as misinformation

Davos 2024 declared this year’s mission is “rebuilding trust through censorship and surveillance” … Which would be hilarious … Except they are not joking.

Why does *Centre for Countering Digital Hate* weigh in on this ? What does "Climate denial" have in common with digital hate ?

Throughout history, the easiest way to find the bad guys, is to spot the censor.

If you cut out a man's tongue you do not prove him a liar.

I've changed my mind about more things than most people have opinions on to begin with. This was only possible because of free speech.
If I hadn't been allowed to say the bs I once believed, nobody would've corrected me, and I would've assumed I'm being shut up because I'm on to something.

Science supports what scientists receive funding to support.

Cutting out someone's tongue doesn't prove them a liar. It only proves that you fear what they said and you had the power to silence them.

Sorry. Misinformation is, for the most part, just information the establishment doesn't like.
Everything we currently hold true in science was once misinformation.
Censorship is NEVER promoted by the good guys. It's always those that want to hide the truth.

Galileo broke with consensus.
For a scientific take on climate change, I recommend Tony Heller, who has a science background and shares detailed historical information about weather, climate, and government agencies attempts to change the conversation by tinkering with the data.

Nothing says you're confident in your position than trying to get an authority to silence those who disagree with you.
