This Scooby-Doo Episode Was A Bit DARKER Than Usual...

I have always been a fan of Scooby-Doo, but for some reason as I got older I missed out on so many of the different series runs of the show. So after watching through Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated and enjoying it, I wanted to talk about one of the episodes that stood out quite a bit more than any other from this version of Scooby-Doo.

What other episodes of Scooby-Doo, from any iteration of the show, pushed some darker themes aside from the usual spooky stuff? Let me know! 😄 Thanks so much for watching and for all the support! New video Friday!

To be fair, the entire Mystery Incorporated tv series was "a bit DARKER than usual" when judging by normal Scooby Doo standards.

Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated was a darker series anyway. You could actually do a couple more episodes.

I think, in a way I can't explain, the artstyle really elevates the series. It's extremely well written regardless but the style in which the characters and setting are produced has the exact aesthetic it needs to thrive.

This version of Scooby-Doo is my personal favorite. The tone shift was a very welcomed one and I wish that Warner Bros. would do more things like this. The current version, Scooby-Doo and Guess Who, is like the 70s New Scooby-Doo Movies. So, hopefully, the next version of Scooby is as dark as this. It seems to happen every 20 to 30 years or so.

It just hit me that Cassidy’s alter ego was Angel Dynamite and she died by an explosion this can’t have been a coincidence.

Mystery Incorporated was the darkest adaptation of Scooby Doo, and tbh I really liked it and it worked way better than expected.

It makes me super happy whenever I see someone on YT talking about Mystery Incorporated.
Fun fact: the series was originally airing when the whole 2012 end of the world thing was being talked about a lot, with one of the theories being that the planet Nibiru would come and collide with Earth and begin the end. I nearly spit out my drink when Nibiru was first mentioned on the show.

Up until the finale, I was convinced that Cassidy was alive. I just couldn't believe that they would kill her off. I kept waiting for her to jump out and save them, but by the middle of the finale I finally realized she was gone.

Mystery Inc is hands down the best scooby doo series, I'd say of all time, and I've seen my fair share. So many callbacks and easter eggs, but the art style is unmatched, the writing is impeccable, and I wish there had been more than 2 seasons. This series was my childhood, I love it and still watch it years later, it holds up very well

There are tons of dark episodes of SDMI that could be talked about! Episodes I remember watching as a kid are “Escape from Mystery Manor” and “All fear The Freak”!

This show more or less redefined my childhood into something more engaging and mature. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it gave me so many laughs, scares, emotional moments, and gripping story arcs to dive into, and was all in all, wonderfully made. The art style is modern, the animation crisp, and the characters engaging and well-casted. The only complaints I would have are a bit of scattered storytelling in the former half of season 1, and a mixed finale in season 2, but it doesn't affect the overall experience too much. Since discovering this video, I'm considering rewatching the series again, so thanks!

Mystery Inc. was definitely a more modern/serious take on the Scooby Doo franchise. It wasn't afraid to add more depth to the lore, or have heavy serious moments or sarcastic tones from various characters.
I wasn't sure about it when it first came out, but it's absolutely one of the best continuations of a show.

I knew exactly what episode it was going to be when I clicked the video and I'm glad it was this one. Although the finale was also pretty dark when those German robots shot Hotdog Water

I think we all know that what happened to Marcie Fleach a.k.a "hotdog water" in the episode Through the Certain in this same series was also a Very-very dark moment near the very end of the series. Then you also have the episode Escape from Mystery Manor which is also part of the Mystery Incorporated series dealing with the Darrow family was a very heart-wrenching and dark episode.

I grew up on Scooby Doo, I loved Mystery Incorporated. It was very underrated.

I'm finding there is a lot in my childhood that was "dark." I'm playing the remastered Spyro series and half of the gags are side characters killing each other, often by accident.

MI is, beyond a doubt, my favorite iteration of Scooby Doo (mad respect to Pup tho, probably my 2nd favorite). I had just entered adulthood when this show came out, and unfortunately missed out on its original airing due to life making it hard to watch TV anymore.

Still, I had heard the high praises for this show and when I saw it on Netflix, I ended up binging the series for the next not-even-a-full-week. I was just _hooked._ It lived up to the hype. I loved the darker spin on the series while not dropping any of the charm or the cheese, I already love serialized stories (I liked 13 Ghosts for that reason), and the sheer scale that MI went for, going well beyond the next bad guy in a mask or, hell, the town itself and encompassing the whole world in a story that ends at an apocalyptic level.

It was like watching Zombie Island or Witch's Ghost for the first time, except longer and going more for a mildly more lovecraftian angle vs. the supernatural (as a side note I love both movies about as much).

Also the entire show was filled with references to older Hanna Barbera shows, beyond just past Scooby Doo series. Hell at one point the animal mascots of the HB series band together and even the animation style changes to look like it was animated back in their heyday. MI was filled to the brim with fanservice like that for the older crowd, but without sacrificing anything for the main core of the series.

MI is 10/10 I love the show.
