Fun fact: The Trini Lopez was actually released in 1964, a year before the Firebird (1965), therefore what's referred to as the "Firebird headstock" is actually the "Trini headstock". Dave Grohl's use of the guitar since the mid-90's brought significant attention back to the model but since the Firebird (along with it's non-reverse in-line 6 headstock) had a much broader market presence, the headstock was automatically tied to the Firebird.

All of those look amazing, I do agree that Dave Grohl helped popularized the Trini Lopez and he has his signature DG-335 but they all look and sound incredible… I’d definitely rock that SG Custom and red 335

Love you Lee :) for being so brutally honest :) That's why I love to watching these videos. Beautiful guitars btw.

Elvis Costello's dad Ross McManus had a hit with 'If I Had A Hammer' (backed by The Joe Loss Orchestra). He also starred in the R. Whites Lemonade advert: "I'm a secret lemonade drinker, R. Whites, R. Whites..." and wrote the song. Elvis is famously a Jazzmaster guy, and credited himself as "the little hands of concrete" on one LP because that's how the producer described his playing.

That “Steely Dan” lick reminded me of part Skunk Baxter’s solo on My Old School.

I miss the DG 335 that Gibson did for a while. Trini Lopez neck with hard tail bridge.

The SG looks like a Mary Ford custom to my eyes.
Mary Ford. Great player and the sweetest voice.
Wife of Les Paul. Her voice and guitar are all over his recordings.
Rough marrige though. Mary accepted the offer to make a custom SG, just to piss off Les. Sister Rosetta played one of these too I think.

For me it would have to be between the 335, and the special. They both sound amazing, but that 335 just takes it.

Didn't the original Trini Lopez models have "pointy" horns rather than the rounded ones? Seems like Gibson took a 335 and put a Fender set-neck on it...

Looks like Trini Lopez's guitars had pointed double cuts more like an SG. Looks great

It is an awful experience shopping in Anderton's Guitar Gallery. Andertons really need to improve the experience in there. If you want to be told off for looking and buy a guitar without being able to touch it (someone needs to hand it to you each time you want to look at one and put one back) and wait around all day to try it (there is one room to try the guitars in and you absolutely under no circumstance can use the practice rooms outside the gallery) then this is the place for you. Otherwise go elsewhere. If theyare that terrified of the guitars getting damaged, don't have a gallery. I was ready to drop some serious cash on a guitar and had to beg them to let me buy one. I would have liked to have tried more but it was such a bad experience I just wanted to leave.

Lee, why do you always run your whole hand way up and way down....your not playing any notes, and going right back to the same spot as always. Come on Lee...

I feel like Les Pauls are the Ford Mustang of guitars

Wait, there's a £4.5k guitar that won't stay in tune if you touch the trem arm? 🤔

Must be a Gibson...😄
