Unexpected audiences can tempt Trip Lee and Lecrae to lose sight of their original goal of performing gospel-centered hip hop that speaks to urban youth in a way other styles have not.

I get that Gospel Hip Hop is. However, I look at Lecrae as an instance and see something I've seen in Contemporary Christian music ie Lauren Daigle.

There are so-called Christians singing and performing songs true Christians come to love and false Christians promote. But the truth is, they do songs with secular worldly artists looking for that one bomb song to catapult them into a cross over appeal.

Suddenly, their theology comes out and they do shows for Ellen and other hosts and there they are given an opportunity to truly peach and teach the Gospel of Christ, but because they do not know it, they fail to uphold the Word of God and they speak lamely of world things and shaky beliefs that do not line up with the eternal power and divine nature of God even the attributes of the Godhead.

...rap is in my blood. But so is sin. So is lust and profanity and obscenity. It was secular music that began speaking godly points to me that pushed me adjacent to my sins that finally drove me to cry out to Jesus.

The Gheto Boyz and Snoop. However, what did I learn from that - from them? Walk away. Listen to God. Follow Him. Not in so many words, but that's what I saw in their particular songs.

TobyMac raps. I like it. But he's light years away from Hip Hop no matter what anyone says... including him.

The problem with gospel Hip Hop is that the spirit of Hip Hop is very much worldly and opposite of the message of Christ. The Hip Hop community pushes the agenda. Not Christ.

And every supposedly Christian seeking platforms to make the argument that Hip Hop is viable and reasonable for the things of God speaks to their motives collectively.

Too many Hip Hop lovers cannot appreciate the godliness of a beautifully crafted hymnal such as
O Worship The King, O Sacred Head Now Wounded, Immortal, Invisible God Only Wise, He Is Risen.

That is our fault. That is our Christian parents fault. That is our Music Director's fault. It is our Pastor's fault. It is the Church's fault.

Not Church's chicken by the way.

I can not support gospel Hip Hop no matter how many times they say Jesus is Lord. Because I know that it is not Christ for who they rap.

If it were, they would walk away from it. There will be no Em Cees in heaven. There will be no Rappers, songstists and soloists before God. Nor will there be concerts and guitar players.

Only holy, reverent, awestruck worshippers.
