Introduction to GIS - Lab 5 – Topographic Mapping with Digital Elevation Models (DEMs)

Показать описание
For this lab, you are going to create a topographic map with shaded relief using a DEM, and a USGS Quad, as a model. You have a choice of using the data provided, or finding your own data and making a map of a peak you choose. The data websites are in the instructions. We will cover how to generate a hillshade and drape a hypsometric tint over it. We also cover creating contours and styling them with the standard index and intermediate symbolization. Next you will label only the index contours with a label expression, and take control of label placement with annotation. To wrap it up, we use the original topo map as a template to add one physical, and one cultural feature to the map using the Drawing Tools.
